CULT LABS’ FAVOURITE CRIMS BEHIND THE BARS OF WENTWORTH
Top dog for 400 episodes, Bea Smith rule’s over the other prisoners was always hard but fair, except if you were involved with drugs. Drugs killed her daughter and she’s going to make damn sure that none of the girls in her care go the same way. Don’t mess with Bea, she’s in for life and has little to lose.
Prisoner’s first and finest lost little girl character Doreen Anderson remains a firm fan favourite. Whether on the run with Frankie or trying to adapt to the scary outside world in the halfway house, the teddy clutching forger with a heart of gold and the tragic backstory was involved in some of the series best story lines, including her dramatic escape during the early episodes.
Introducing everybody’s favourite bigamist and all round breath of fresh air Pixie Mason, brought in no doubt to balance out the mental illness, power struggles and general sense of bleak eternity seen elsewhere behind the walls. Despite meeting a bad end when a vicious sex attack sends her careening into the mental hospital, Pixie is a favourite with fans and another great example of the eccentric grab bag of character types found behind the prison walls.
