Build it and they will come...

As we’ve seen, the 80s was a strange time for ghost movies. The early years of the decade saw some of the greatest and most iconic ghost horrors of all time, but by the mid-80s the boom of family friendly films had melted into the horror and sci-fi genre, with such films as Ghostbusters. So, what about the late 80s? Well, the feel good trend of the 80s had created one of cinemas most touching ghost stories; Field Of Dreams.

“Build it and he will come,” the film’s most memorable quote announces.  It couldn’t be more correct!  Since its original release in 1989, audiences have been drawn to this unique fantasy tale. It has received a staggering amount of praise and even Roger Ebert gave it a perfect rating. The film has left such a mark, that the movie’s location is a popular tourist attraction!

Staring such talent as Kevin Costner (in one of his key roles), Amy Madigan, James Earl Jones, Ray Liotta, and Burt Lancaster in his final ever movie role, the movie offers something a lot of ghost stories lack. Heart. It’s an emotional roller-coaster throughout, and anyone who watches without a box of tissues nearby is going to have a bad time when the film reaches its powerful climax.
