Shameless Celebrations

Over the Easter weekend, Shameless Screen Entertainment launched a fantastic competition, giving away one Shameless DVD of the winners choice! A huge thank you to all those who entered, but there can only be one winner. So, congratulations to the randomly selected winner, Richard Stewart! Keep an eye on your email inbox today. How many Shameless Easter eggs have you found? Well, here are the two answers;

  1. Cannibal Holocaust - Highlight the Shameless logo to reveal a hidden special feature!
  2. The New Barbarians - Highlight the trailer menu and click ‘right’ to find a great outtake from the Castellari introduction.

In other Shameless news, the upcoming release of Lucio Fulci’s Contraband is quickly approaching! With just a few weeks until it’s released, keep your eyes on the official Shameless forum and Facebook group for all the latest news in the very near future; including new artwork, trailers, clips and more!

Stop! It’s Hammer Time!

One of Hammer’s greatest classic films, Frankenstein And The Monster From Hell is coming out this Monday! Staring the late great legend, Mr Peter Cushing, the new Blu-ray/DVD Double Play release includes 3 discs packed with extras and completely UNCUT! It doesn’t get much better than this. Hammer’s Frankenstein series is perhaps the quintessential set of Hammer movies. Kicking off in 1957, The Curse Of Frankenstein was the studio’s first ever colour horror film. Splattered with garish blood-red, it’s no wonder audiences were shocked, disgusted and…eager for more! Over the years, Hammer continued to boom, remaining the greatest British horror studio of all time. With the release of Frankenstein And The Monster From Hell, the film acted as a strangely perfect swan song to a classic gothic era. It marked the last Hammer film directed by regular Terence Fisher and saw the end of Hammer’s most celebrated and golden era. Frankenstein truly is Hammer Horror incarnate.

To celebrate this incredible release, we have been going Frankenstein crazy! Fancy winning a set of ultra rare lobby cards (only 20 in existence!), then head here and ask Hammer Horror star, Shane Briant a question. If you’re one of the selected, your question could be answered by this British horror star and you could get your claws on this incredible prize. Keep your eye on the forum this weekend too, for a very cool infographic packed with Hammer’s Frankenstein facts!  Out Monday, pre-order yours today from Amazon

The Ultimate Peter Cushing Fan Club!

Sticking with the Hammer theme, you simply need to visit the Peter Cushing Appreciation Society UK on Facebook. Constantly updated with loads of great content dedicated to this legend of horror, it’s every fan of British Horror’s paradise! A huge thank you to all those who submitted a question to Shane Briant via this page earlier in the week. Keep your eye on the page to find out the winning names and the answers from the great Shane Briant. Go check these guys out! We love them!

Tears? No! I Was Just…Cutting Up An Onion…

It takes a lot to make a big macho man with a heart of stone like me (yeah right!) to get emotional, but there are a handful of films that always manage to tug at the heartstrings. Strangely enough, many classic animated films are often on movie fans’ lists of movies that make them cry. From Bambi to Lion King, Toy Story 3, The Last Unicorn and now the beautiful, award-winning animation, Wrinkles. How many of these films have you seen? Take our challenge to find out just how much emotion you can show! Perfectly blending tears with laughter, it’s no wonder that critics are going crazy over Wrinkles, with The Guardian recommending it as their must-see movie of the week! Coming to DVD & Blu-ray Monday, pre-order your copy from here.

Well, until next week, take care and keep the Cult alive!
