This week saw the DVD release of the last ever volume of Prisoner: Cell Block H. The classic cult TV show from the 1980s comes to an almighty ending with one of the most gripping finale shows to have graced the small screen. Be sure to grab your box set this week, as in a couple of months time, the show’s brand new ‘prequel’ re-imagining, Wentworth will be heading our way to UK TV. Very, Very exciting times! And don’t forget to check out the last ever Official Prisoner Awards (in collaboration with the Official Facebook page, the Wentworth forum and ourselves – the official Prisoner Forum), where fans can vote for their favorite storyline of the show’s entire fun. Also released earlier this week, was the excellent new action-horror, Dead Mine. Venturing deep inside an apparently abandoned mine, with a sinister history, what horrors lurk within? Welcome to another packed edition of the Cult Labs’ Newsletter! Kicking it off, we have news of an unmissable screening of the one and only The Burning. This week saw the DVD release of the superb new British Horror, The Facility. Following the intense results of a trial drug gone wrong, the film is a must for fans of 28 Days Later. British Horror has produced some fantastic films over the years. From Christopher Lee’s Dracula right up to Shaun Of The Dead and now The Facility. To celebrate the DVD and the Blu-ray release of both Spartacus: War Of The Damned and the last ever Spartacus box set, we’re hosting a very special event this afternoon. There’s only a couple more weeks until Rob Zombie’s latest new horror film, The Lords Of Salem heads out of the fiery chasms of Hell onto DVD! Taking his cues from the best of John Carpenter and Dario Argento with his own touch, Zombie has created a simply stunning and hugely stylish Satanical horror movie. The Collection

As many may know, recently a new bottled water company, The Bay springs caused mass-panic after their water was contaminated with flesh-eating parasitic creatures! Their Twitter page was shut down immediately after a huge surge of tweets were made from suffers of this gut-wrenching, stomach-churning infection (check out this page for more details). With this, the recent horse meat scandles and snow in spring (!), it’s easy to see how nature is starting to turn against man. We’re doomed, I tell you, doomed! Which all makes this week’s Shameless Screen Entertainment Film Of The Week all that more relevant. Heading our way onto DVD and Blu-ray in the very near future is a whole bunch of great titles. So, without further ado, here’s a quick run down of what to look out for…

247ᵒF - Claustrophobic? Well prepare yourself for the ultimate nightmare in the hottest horror yet (helped by the eye-candy on offer!). Trapped inside a sauna, 247ᵒF tells the true story of a group of friends who are slowly cooked alive! Is death their only escape? You’ll have to watch to find out! A little like Frozen, flipped on its head, this film is available to pre-order now on either DVD or Blu-ray and is planned for release on the 18th March from Anchor Bay. The film has a wonderfully fun trailer that’s definitely worth checking out!

The Bay – Also out on DVD and Blu-ray on the 18th of this month, is the superb eco-horror movie from the director of Rain Man and Good Morning Vietnam. Offering a completely new and fascinating take on the tired Found Footage genre – so much so that even Mark Kermode loved this film! – The Bay tells the grizzly, gruesome and truly disturbing story of a quite American seaside town suddenly plagued by a new water-bound infection. A superb blend between Jaws and Shivers, this film is perfect for those looking for a  fantastically well made film with deeper meaning. Do not miss this and #DontDrinkTheBay !

Prisoner: Cell Block H – There’s only two more volumes of Prisoner left until the whole collection is complete! To celebrate this and go out with a bang, we’ve teamed up with both the official Prisoner Facebook page and the Wentworth Forum to host a poll a week in the Official Prisoner Online Awards Ceremony 2013.
