I am now salivating! The Beyond is one of my favourite horrors and I've held out re-watching my ABUS Tin edition with the hope that Arrow do it justice.
As for it being "overrated"? I'm not sure how to answer that. It is what it is; spaghetti horror. Fulci managed to film his zombie movies a little like Leone, giving them a dreamlike quality. The Beyond is a series of violent set pieces set within a dream-like story that, whilst isn't complex, interests the viewer to it's avant-garde conclusion. The final scene is unsettling and bleak.
I like Warbeck in this movie and I look upon his joke scene in the hospital lift as just another part of the "dream". Ever tried to fire a gun in a dream? I tend to have all sorts of problems
What didn't help was German financiers insisting that zombies were part of the movie. I see them as physical ghosts and/or a manifestation of the hell dimension ripping apart the world.
