Been to this many times as an Edinburgh resident. Always really good fun and half of the goodness is certainly spending a care free weekend with friends in various states of boozyness. Always a nice mix of stuff that you won't be aware of and older classics. Great variety of short films as well.

Sadly, I doubt I'll be along this year. They've been changing the dates of the fest over recent years and I always end up booked for a job as I work a lot of Saturdays and get booked months in advance, usually before the fest dates have been released. This would have have been the 4th year in a row I would have missed out on most of the Saturday although I have still bought my pass for the whole fest in the past and just dealt with it.

Also, one of my friends that always comes along has decided his pockets aren't deep enough this year as all his overtime has been suspended and we have the Wacken Festival to go to in August. It is a pretty expensive weekend, especially if you stay in the Filmhouse bar.

I've booked myself up for quite a few events this year and I think something has to give unfortunately. However, I might still do Spawn of Dawn that runs as an all-nighter on the Saturday night/Sunday morning as work will be well over by the time that kicks off.

Sad though, first time I will have missed it in around 10 years. Still time for a last minute change of heart I guess.
