Default Taste the Blood of Dracula (1970)

My second favourite Hammer film. Taste the Blood of Dracula has it all.

A sinister performance by Christopher Lee.

James Bernard's fantastic score.

A superb script that doesn't rely on the gimmicks of the later sequels.

Great performances by the cast including Ralph Bates, Geoffrey Keen, Linda Hayden, Peter Sallis and Roy Kinnear.

Lovely bloody murders.

And last but certainly not least, one of Peter Sasdy's finest directorial efforts.

I was never that keen on this one (this is the one about the Hellfire Club type group, yeah? Who reanimate Drac in a black mass ritual thing?).

I would like to give it another go, actually.

Geoffrey Keen in this comes across just as evil, but in a different way, as Dracula himself.

Took a while to grow on me, but I like it a lot now. I can understand why Chris Lee was a bit pissed off with his role this time ( I guess he feels Dracula is almost an afterthought ).

I love the hypocrisy of 'Victorian values' in this one.

Yes the fathers are the real 'monsters' in this one especially Keen.
