I wouldn't say it's totally different, loops. The pacing is faster and there's different music cues and some more gore, but I wouldn't say it's totally different - just edited differently.

Do you get a different mood from it Loops to the theatrical cut?

Yep! I thought i would like the Argento version better as i always thought that Romero's cut's where overlong but Argento's version was no improvement at all, it felt like one big trailer.

This looks like a very good set and, even though I have the 4-disc R1 Ultimate Edition, I'll probably upgrade for the improved audio and video quality. Just for reference, there is the Theatrical Cut, Extended Cut and European Cut with the Theatrical Cut being the 'Director's Cut' as Romero's preferred version. I only watched the European Cut a couple of days ago and it is very different to Romero's version showing that he and Argento have very different ideas when it comes to pacing, music, gore and characterisation. I like them both very much and the film is one of my favourites. |

Cool - I'm glad people seem pleased so far - it's the kind of release that Arrow really wanted to do something special with and what has worked well is how excited and determined they've been - virtually all the extra docs looked like they wouldn't happen but they pushed and pushed and finally snared them just in time. Cooler still - they read all the comments on here and that's driven them to push more, spend more (please buy this!) and keep at it. That's it for the specs but there's more to come once we get a few things confirmed - should have more news next week. |
