Ok, so not that much of an atrocity but this one off Horror drama from early 70s Spanish TV trancends it's humble televisual origins, leading the viewer from gentle, occasionally slapstick comedy and a virtually mimed performance from the lead, through an ever growing sense of dread and unease, all leading up to one of fantastic films great shock endings. Love this film. Amusing, oddly wistful at times, and genuinely unsettling. There can't be many folk my age who weren't shaken to the marrow by this little gem when it was screened during the BBC 2 Horror Double Bill season in the 80s. I try to show it to as many people as I can get to sit still for half an hour (surprisingly hard these days). |
