Good film. Kind of a Cronenbergian feel to it, albeit with a feminine slant.

I am (was, hopefully) a self harmer. I have never heard of this film! I must see it. |

This came to mind recently when I was thinking of making a list of my least favourite films. Yuk . . .

It's a really good film, glad this thread resurfaced as it's prompted me to dig it out for a rewatch in near future. Doesn't try to push any particular angle on self mutilation (beyond it having something to do with alienation from the body, hence the C-bergian ring) and avoids the usual narrative cliches by not falling back on psychological back story.

| It's a strange film but I wouldn't say it's "atrocious"...

It's brilliant. I recommend this to people all the time but they never listen.

I saw this in the cinema when it was first released and remember being quite underwhelmed by it at the time, while wanting to like it more than I did. That said, it was a good many years ago, and it certainly deserves a reevaluation.
