Last lot now... if not I'll have blown my monthly blu ray budget entirely on Asian DVDs

Just watched DEADFUL MELODY with Brigitte Lin, Wu Ma, Yuen Buio, etc, fantastic! Thought it was up there with classic HK fantasies BRIDE WITH WHITE HAIR & ZU WARRIORS FROM MAGIC MOUNTAIN

It's cheap on Amazon (marketplace) as well.

Well pic quality of the Optimum disc is really better (bolder colors/not interlaced),not "fantastic" but certainly good enough.
Subs are also a bit improved.
But I found there were some split-second freezes here and there?
Anyone else notice this or do I have a bad disc?

Oh,I forgot...it's letterboxed but zooms in well enough.
There is no anamorphic dvd of this one I think?

Checked the disc again last night and the split second freezes from time to time were there again,my bd player acted like there was a layer change or something?

Strange...

There's a mind boggling array out there isn't there! Watched 36th chamber of Shaolin on BD yesterday and despite the negative reviews, thought the transfer was breathtaking (although last time I watched it was on VHS many years ago ). It also had much more of a story to it than I remember; I'll have to pick up some more Shaw Bros films as I've only seen that one and their Hammer collaboration 7 Golden Vamps. Any recommendations? Are there any more available on blu ray?

Picked up these from the local CEX today:

Despite StormRiders being an M.I.A. / Hong Kong Classics release, it seems they have actually put together a decent package: 2 discs + 2 versions of the films + some extras + a very good transfer!

I've seen some very bad DVD transfers my MIA, particularly bad was The Octagon. I'm tempting with Project S (Michelle Yeoh) but worried about the transfer. Anyone own this and can comment?

Have a look here for Shaw bd's:
Shaw Bros. Blu-rays - Blu-ray Forum

I would give a few Shaw recommendations but what kind of Shaw films do you like?

Thanks for the links. I didn't realise so many Shaw films had been released on blu ray. I'm really not sure what kind of Shaw film I like having only seen 2, to the best of my knowledge. I'm a big fan of 36th CHAMBER OF SHAOLIN though. I really enjoyed that film. Although I like fantasy/supernatural martial arts in particular, do Shaw do these sorts of films? I also appreciate the some sly humour and revenge storylines.

36th CHAMBER OF SHAOLIN is a great Shaw film.

Yes the Shaws did tackle supernatural/fantasy martial arts.
In fact they tackled every genre there is as they were the biggest producers of Chinese films for a long time.

How about Web of Death or Buddha's Palm (both fantasy martial arts films)?

Thanks for the recommendations. I'll order WEB OF DEATH, looks ace.

Today I picked up the following from Head in Leamington (formerly Fopp) for £8:-

I'll be visiting the Bristol branch on saturday, hopefully they'll have some different stock. Plus bought these from fellow forumer Wongfeihung:-
