I'm thinking of doing a blog post for my blog New Eccentrica Olde Britannica about the golden era of kung fu films, during the British rule of HK. Off the top of my head, 7 Golden Vampires (a Uk co-prod with Hammer) Enter the 7 Virgins and Enter the Dragon all have British characters, as does Queen's Ransom and the Hammer-Shaw Shatter. As far as settings, Amsterdam Kill and My Cousin the Ghost. Any other suggestions? Is Armour of God in London at 1 point?

Hey, I've always wondered this, thev English agent guys in Enter the Dragon have no other credits. Were they amatueurs? I know the guy, Robert Hanna in 7 Golden Vampires must've been , as he was cast by Shaw, unlike Robin Stewart, Forbes-Robertson, Cushing and Ege all of whom had worked for Hammer beforehand except Stewart who was best known for being Sid's son in Bless thsi House! What other HK films have British characters? Name some, please. |

I think some of them were amateurs as they have no other credits. British characters were depicted as bad/funny/good in HK films depending on the film. Also senior police officers and judges in HK films were often British. Some more I remember right now... Yes Madam! (I think Cynthia Rothrock plays a British police officer here?) Mad Mad Ghost (the 2 baddie treasure hunters are both British) Untold Story 2 (senior police inspector is British I seem to remember?) Fist of Legend (British Judge and another British character I seem to remember) Run and Kill (British bartender) Frankly I hardly pay attention to these British characters in Hk films anymore as they often pop up. Unless they are played for fun of course. |

Thanks, but now I am looking for British settings and mostly 60 70s and 80s. The Man from Hong Kong is Aus-set, butthen again, they are legaslly part of the Commonwealth, but then so was HK. |
