That could have massive ramifications for future releases of films which are always cut in Britain but passed uncut elsewhere. Interesting times ahead?

It will be interesting to see what happens when you choose French at the menu, if it will let you change the language to English when the film starts. I have a feeling you won't be able to, but If you can, it could be very interesting indeed.

That's great news as they are both excellent films. I have a real soft spot for Silent Running as it's almost the flipside to 2001: A Space Odyssey. My order for the special edition of Touch of Evil DVD has been shipped -- the R1 release with all three versions, but I'll certainly triple dip and upgrade to Blu-ray.

This Touch of Evil has the following:

Quote:
LIMITED EDITION 2 X BLU-RAY ONLY

• Six versions of Welles’ film: the 1998 reconstruction; the 1958 preview version rediscovered in the mid-1970s; and the 1958 theatrical version — each presented in both 1.85:1 and 1.37:1 aspect ratios
• English SDH subtitles on all versions
• A host of extras presented for the first time in the UK
• A lavish 80-PAGE illustrated book containing the words of Orson Welles, and much more

Sounds good. Very, very good. I imagine I'll pre-order it as soon as it's available as it is a great film and probably my favourite by Orson Welles. However, and I don't want to sound like a film snob, I really like Citizen Kane and am really looking forward to the US ultimate edition BD set with The Magnificent Ambersons.

Before I forget, Eureka now has a partnership with Universal to release some of their catalogue titles to celebrate the centenary in 2012. MoC is releasing the Island of Lost Souls on DVD only in October; strange though that it's not a blu like Criterion.

Neither was I! I'd love them to release Micheal Winner's THE SENTINEL on blu-ray.

It's not the greatest film ever made, but it is a very good horror film, one I enjoyed the last time saw it and I'd definitely buying the BD.
