Default PREDATOR Ultimate Hunter Edition.

It looks like the Technicians have went completely overboard with the DNR on the new Predator blu-ray. I don't usually put a lot of faith in screencaps but from reports, it looks like the same people who worked on Fox's Patton may have been let out of their padded cells again!

http://forums.highdefdigest.com/blu-...9-10-a-13.html ........ scroll down and prepare to be shocked.

I have to say that although I was considering getting rid of my original UK Blu- ray of Predator to get the new one and now after seeing those screencaps I am so glad that I waited.

I for one will not be upgrading or more appropriately downgrading for this new release

I know the older release has issues but at least it doesn't look like it was filmed in Madame Tusauds

OK, that review has made me even more pleased that I still have my original disc.

someone commented after that review that hopefully Aliens doesn't suffer the same fate,

now that's a scary thought.

I had my suspicions about Predator when it was revealed it was to be a new 'digitally remastered version'. I don't think the old version looks that bad at all.

I'm worried about the Alien set too. When i got my Quadrilogy set I already noticed they'd done some cleaning up to Aliens compared to the original dvd. The original was quite grainy in parts and it looked a little too clean on the newer version. I'm hoping James Cameron had time to get involved and make sure it's done right.

Does anyone have a link to screen grabs comparing the first and new release?

The screen grab from the new ed looks ok to me.

You don't see that there's absolutely no fine detail, not a hint of grain and an Arnie that looks like he belongs in a Pixar movie?

I thought he was created by Pixar.

You're right, but it still looks ok (better than my DVD release that's for sure!!), that's why i want to see comparisons to the old disk. I almost bought it on the weekend.
