Unbelievable news here 2 must have horror classics announced for Blu-ray release in September. RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD - mgm -Sep 14th ZOMBIE HOLOCAUST - shriek show - Sep 28th Both likely to be region locked so I'm glad I went multi region capable a couple of months back. Return of the living dead I never even knew was on the horizon for a blu release. The brain screaming Tarman zombie in 1080p, I can't wait. Zombi holocaust - I am beyond happy, always loved this film as a companion piece to zombie flesh eaters. September is going to be the month for classic horror. ![]() |

Zombi Holocaust is a really funny movie and I would love to see this one as UK Arrow Video Blu someday, and sice Arrow denies interest in this title I won't get the US. RotLD is really fun to watch, too, but I don't think I will upgrade this one. |

| Zombie Holocaust is a hoot. I'm hoping that Shriek Show won't be region-locking their titles, but I have a sneaky suspicion that they will. But I agree, I'd love Arrow to put this out on Blu, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

As a big Zombie movie film fan, I've never understood the appeal of ROTLD. It hasn't got the class of the Romero movies and hasn't got the charm of some of the lower budget and dwonright odd Italian offerings. Yeah, so Quigley got her boobs out for the first time (and wouldn't be the last ) but it was all a bit of mess, I thought.

I'm not a big fan either but the braaaaaiiiiins zombie is cool and the "send more paramedics" quote awesome. The story is kinds stupid but also kinds fun and the film delivers some nice gore. No "classic" values, I think but still a fun watch.

| You have hit upon what I do like about it, that and the surprisingly dark ending.

just hope those guys have their act together. How long did it take them (as Tokyo Shock) to release Ichi and Versus after the initial release date? |

I think the appeals of ROTLD are: -- The punk (and new wave...ugh...) soundtrack. For me, hearing The Cramps and Roky Erickson in a movie is pure glory. -- The effects and corpse design, as well as the overall tone/style of the movie, is hugely influenced by US comics from the 50's -- specifically the EC comics. Dan O'Bannon and William Stout did some really cool work on the picture. -- I find it's actually a smart movie. Dan O'Bannon was the genuine deal, a supremely intelligent man. The movie also has a tone of "what if zombies were real" IMO -- how regular people might deal with the situation. Not too far off from NOTLD, really. -- Clu Gulager, James Karen and Don Calfa are superb in the movie, wonderful chemistry between them that makes me smile every time. I can see how it's not for everyone though. Part III has a lot of fans, but it's only OK for me. Haven't seen 4 or 5, and 2...well, we all know about part 2. |
