Ah, not a spaghetti but the brilliant BARQUERO starring Warren Oates and Lee Van Cleef is being released in Oz on the 23rd Jan!



I was hopeful that these new releases (MY NAME IS NOBODY & THEY STILL CALL ME TRINITY) from Spain would have English Audio but not according to bluray.com..

Man, I love Barquero! Fantastic film. Warren Oates kills in this flick.

I know this is the "blu spaghetti" thread but I thought I'd do a post about all the non-spaghetti westerns I own on BD:-



Rio Bravo is now out of print and going for ~£20 at most places but managed to get a cheap 2nd hand copy from cex. How the West Was Won, Josie Wales and The Comancheros are US digibooks. Soldier Blue is an Australian release (much better artwork than the German/Scandinavian releases imo!) as is Barquero. Several others are US releases. The two Charles Bronson films are German pre-orders.

Other ones I'm after are Lonesome Dove (US), Pale Rider (US), Vera Cruz (US), Seraphim Falls, Appaloosa (love Ed Harris' performance in this!), The Professionals, Hour of the Gun (Aus release by Shock), Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid, Man of the West (German release), Hannie Caulder (US), The Long Riders (US).

Howe come Germany are getting so many good films on Blu? I'm hoping some of these make the transition to UK BD at some point.

Yeah, strange that Germany has more Westerns than we do. Australia and the US have the best selection I would say, which is a shame as it costs a fair bit to import from Australia (Shock Entertainment are releasing some gems over there, although the quality of some of their releases, see THE VAMPIRE LOVERS @ 1080i, has been questioned). I've found the best places to order Aus discs is either ebay.co.uk or dvdorchard.com.au. Amazon.co.uk are fairly extortionate when it comes to Aus BDs.
