Default Mondo movies

I read a fantastic book years ago 'Killing for Culture' which amongst other subjects covered the Mondo movie genre .
I was just wondering what people thought of this style of film or if anyone had any particular favourite Mondo films.

I've only ever met one person who was really into these films. He just collected mondo movies.
Some were quite tame but some were very cruel films.
Not my cup of tea.
They don't seem to be as popular now.

To be honest I think they're vile monstrosities. The sole redeeming features being the normally excellent music scores (often by the great Riz Ortolani).

Killing For Culture is, as others have echoed, and excellent read.

There are lots of exploitation movies I like that have Mondo elements in them - but Mondo movies per se just don't do it for me. Not to say I havent sought them all out at one point or another.

It's animal stuff I really have a probem with..

That Killing For Culture is a fantastic read.
Some of the films mentioned are seriously disturbed.

The croc attack is laughable .

There's one film has a rival tribe attack another tribe and one native is captured and 'castrated' but the guy is obviously trying not to laugh and at one point smiles as he pee's "in fear."
