Default The Oblong Box (Gordon Hessler, 1969)

It was either Monday gone or last Monday when a UK horror film called The Oblong Box was released on Region 2 by Optimum. It has a very nice cover. I don't think there are an extras on the disc with the film. It's also available on Region 1 under the Midnight Movies label (the same label which Countess Dracula and The Vampire Lovers were released on on Region 1).

DVD Compare does not have any search results for The Oblong Box. Is the film uncut on both Region 1 and 2, and which is the best version to get? Does the Region 1 disc have any extras? I did do a check on Amazon.com recently but can't remember if the extras I saw mentioned in a review were for the Midnight Movies R1 disc containing The Oblong Box and another horror film, or for another Midnight Movies disc containing Murder at the Rue Morgue and Cry of the Banshee.

Get the Midnite Movies MGM disc. You get the extra film (Scream and Scream Again). Extra's are trailers for both films. They both look very good. 'The Oblong Box' isn't very good though....'SASA' has its moments. As far as I know its uncut. Can't imagine anything worth cutting from it/them.

The Optimum release is definitely the complete version and restores the old cinema cuts (topless nudity and throat slashings).

The throat-cutting was cut originally (badly done though)I'd say the r2 one is uncut like the MGM release.
