I've just ordered that, not from Amazon, but from The Book Depository where, using the code 'May11', I sl I picked it up for a lot less.

As for the synopsis of the proposed sequel, I don't like it as the power in The Wicker Man was all down to how Howie's dogmatism and unwavering belief in his Christian God, which means he doesn't bother to try and understand the islanders and their beliefs.

The ending would have ruined all that and his return to Summerisle defies all logic.

The latest issue of "Sight and Sound" has an article on this:

"Here's A Health to the Barley Mow:A Century of Folk Customs and Ancient Rural Games" a 2 disc DVD set from BFI out on 18/07/11. If you want to see where all the "pagan" dances etc in "The Wicker Man" came from then this would be a good starting point. It contains the excellent "Oss Oss Wee Oss" which is wild.

If you don't fancy 2 discs of Morris Dancing check out the magazine for the weird beard photos that make "The Wicker Man" look very conservative! Right I'm off for a quick wassail.

I was listening to "The Wicker Man" soundtrack today for the first time in ages, when I realised I've got two cover versions of songs from it. The excellent Owl Service cover "Procession" but rename it "Willie O'Winsbury(reprise)" on the lp "The View from the Hill" and the barking mad, Circulus cover "Mirie It Is" on their first lp.

Anyone know of any other cover versions?
