Grab it now! You should have a look on the web for the prices for these two.

I've recently picked up the Anchor Bay/Starz US Blu-Ray of this one (along with El Topo) and they are fantastic releases - very good AV quality, but be warned: both are Region A locked.

As for The Holy Mountain itself, whilst I do understand a lot of the negative comments in relation to the non-linear narrative of this and Jodorowsky's other work, I'm a huge fan of this (as you can probably guess from my signature!), and a firm admirer of Jodorowsky and his films.

I do think the film is slightly bloated content wise, and that is the only negative point I have to say about it, and is probably why I prefer Santa Sangre to The Holy Mountain.

Still, I'd highly recommend his work, it's fun in an anything goes way.
This.

Watch them as a face-melting mess of imagery and amazing set-pieces and it's hard not to be enthralled. You can slag off the lack of meaning until you're head falls off, but you'll be hard-pressed to find another film that has such consistently bonkers visuals (and utterly amazing set design+++)

If anyone can think of other films from the era that have similar non-stop absolutely mental imagery - post 'em up! (Don't care if they're 'style over substance')

Have you seen "Psyched by the 4-D Witch"? It starts out as a pretty standard no budget 70s witchcraft sexploitation film then suddenly goes completely mental with a heavy injection of Kenneth Anger style underground occultnik weirdness and imagery blasting out a psychedelic haze on the mind and eye. Kenneth Anger is well worth a look too.

"Through the Looking Glass", a hardcore porn film that has a crazed ending that is like the bastard child of Coffin Joe and Jodorowsky.

"The Other Side of the Underneath". Jodorowsky style madness with an anti psychiatry slant, filmed in a Welsh mining town with the cast and crew all on LSD. It most likely cost less than the budget for the frogs in "The Holy Mountain" but has some great images in it.

Maybe not in the time scale you are talking about but Ken Russell's "Altered States" has some great imagery in it.

My recommendation would be Andrei Tarkovsky's Solaris. Simply breathtaking.

My favourite film of all time.

I've recently ordered the Criterion Blu, so am really looking forward to checking it out in HD when it arrives.

There is something spellbinding about this movie. It totally sucks me in every time I've watched it. I would bet that the blu will be a mind-blowing experience.
