Yeah got that too

I love the artwork and the packaging but mostly the fact that the range is showing me a new genre of classic cinema that otherwise I would overlook. Can't wait until they all arrive and i can get stuck in with the booklets and extra features
PaulD and sawyer6 like this.

Excellent idea for a thread Ant!

Having order 3 of these over the last few days I can't wait to get stuck in and see what the films are like.

Never really looked into these releases but after checking this thread out, I'm sorely tempted by Rififi and Bicycle Thieves

Best get them now then while they're only £9.95 at Zavvi. Doubt they'll be cheaper than that anywhere anytime soon

Rififi got a full 5 star review at blu-ray.com for PQ and AQ too

I managed to get Rififi for £9.99 off Amazon just after Christmas.

Highly recommended for fans of noir or crime thrillers in general. Great transfer too: MUCH better than the old Criterion DVD.

Even though I owned the old Arrow DVD, I bought Les Diaboliques on release, as it is one of my all time favourite films. I was overjoyed when Arrow first announced its release on BD.

Aside form Bicycle Thieves (which whilst good, I can't see myself wanting to watch very often so haven't bought the BD), I haven't seen any of the other Arrow Academy releases as yet.

The Conformist sounds good, although I'm surprised Storaro hasn't forced his 'Univisium' format down everyone's throat on this one too!

I also have Spirits of the Dead on 'Arrow Films', but I think it could be making the jump to Academy at some point (?)... a nice little triplet of Poe adaptations (Toby Dammit being the stand-out tale in this one).

Don't give him any ideas! Because of this man, The Bird With The Crystal Plumage is the only Arrow Video title I don't own. Burn in hell Storaro!

Great thread idea! I haven't picked up any of the Academy titles yet, but once my Arrow Video collection is up to date I will make a start.

William Wilson is my favourite - quite a bit better than the very good Metzengerstein and the good Toby Dammit. Delon and Bardot are brilliant!

A sound flogging would do. It's definitely not worse than what Friedkin did with French Conncetion.

Greetings!

On the heels of Arrow's fantastic release of Rififi, it would be great to see Dassin's 1947 Noir Brute Force get an Arrow Academy dual format release.

They've released it before on DVD, so still may own the rights...
