Let's hope Warner continue to licence it's titles to other companies like it has with The Devils.

Yes, I think that's the only conceivable way the film could ever be restored or even get a hi-def makeover. Because Warners sure as hell are never going to do it.

It would be nice if someone picked up this and Exorcist III - both have a history of ill-treatment at the hands of production company Morgan Creek and theatrical distributor 20th Century Fox before Warner Bros. ever came along. I believe that this is the main reason for the additional footage not turning up, as the original elements are supposed to be languishing in a Fox storeroom somewhere.

We can always live in hope, we waited long enough for The Devils

The thing is if Warner were disappointed with the poor sales of the original theatrical cut on DVD, what are the sales gonna be like for a niche cult film company like Arrow Video? Are they gonna be equally poor? Especially after spending a lot of money giving the film a hi-def makeover for a BD release. It would probably make more financial sense to release a 2-DVD set (theatrical cut & workprint) and gauge from sales of that whether a BD release was financially worthwhile.

Smaller companies make a bigger splash with this type of film. The majors throw all their energies into promoting their latest blockbusters, so the catalogue product, on the whole, is thrown out and considered money for old rope. Smaller companies are usually run and staffed by genuine enthusiasts and have a better understanding of what it is the fans want from a release.

Default Uncut Nightbreed Print Discovered

Well, well, well. Apparently an uncut 145min print has been discovered and is screening at a US horror convention shortly. Maybe there is hope for an uncut home video release after all...?

That was discovered in 2010. A workprint of pretty bad quality.

D'oh! I didn't think to check the date of the article.

Oh well, back to patiently waiting then...I was excited for all of ten seconds.
