I have a load of DVD-Rs of horror series that have not yet been released on official DVD... its a real shame as the quality of some of the shows is first rate.

For example, the MR James Christmas Ghost Stories from the early 70s which were repeated on one of the satellite channels a few years back are phenomenal. I remember being terrified by Lost Hearts in 72 or 73 (I was only 7 or 8 back then).

Apparently there is a lovely R4 box set with them all in which has just or is just being released - but its not cheap.

Cool

There were a few in the 70s like CHILLER, oddly I recall them being shown in the early afternoon before kids tv( I had quite a shock when as a teen I returned to the UK after living in the States for 10 years to find all of 3 channels on tv with bbc2 having a test card a lot of the time, Satirized by Landis in AWIL) THRILLER was another cracker.

My most obscure horror TV boxset has to be The Omega Factor with James Hazeldine and Louise Jameson. They had a zero budget but still managed an element of creepiness, similar to the Quatermass stories. You could also say it was a forerunner to the X-Files, with a couple forced to work together; one a sceptic, one an investigator.
It doesn't hold up to today's standards so is largely forgotten. Most scenes occur down a pub.

Classic seventies British series like Day of the Triffids and The Nightmare Man are always worth a watch.
