Default MYA Communications & One 7 Movies

Let's share our thoughts on these two labels, founded by staff from the magnificent NoShame Films (RIP).

I recently bought one of MYA's latest releases Death Will Have Your Eyes which i was very happy about... until i pressed the play buttom. Don't be fooled by the trailer which has good picture quality as the feature itself looks AWFUL! I stopped watching after five minutes as i couldn't stand it.

I also have two of their re-releses of former NoShame titles which looks great and seems to be identical but without the extras or booklets. These are The Strange Vice of Mr's Wardh (released as Blade of the Ripper) and Secrets of a Call Girl (released as Anna: The Pleasure, The Torment).

I personally have bought Door into Darkness and Four Flies from Mya and I don't think I'll buy much more...

The re-releases are really not identical, for example the NoShame disc of Strange Vice was double layer, theirs in single layer.
Blade of the Ripper (The Strange Vice of Mrs. Wardh) – 10,000 Bullets

"I'm fairly sure that the feature itself was larger than single-layer size so either they've done a new encode at a lower bitrate or they've recompressed the MPEG2 stream." (ECC Lovelockandload)

"It was." (Kevin Coed Lovelockandload)

Btw seems Mya has changed their "to be released" list.
"Mya is working off another list, rather than the one they initially projected when they began." (Latarnia)
Where are all the gialli, gothics etc...

Really? I have only seen the MYA release and what i can remember it looked fine. I would really like to see some image comparison of these two releases.

Sex and Black Magic is also a decent print. (One 7 Movies)

I can't help there because I bought neither since they were both interlaced pal to ntsc transfers.
Apparently there was motion blurring due to that.
I have the Italian disc, the French one and the UK one.
They all seem to use the same pal master...

There were actually 3 good to excellent dvd releases (one not mentioned on dvdcompare btw) of this before Mya released their version.

Rewind @ www.dvdcompare.net - Hunchback Of The Morgue AKA El Jorobado De La Morgue AKA Rue Morgue Massacres (1973)

Fans generally think the Anolis dvd is the best release.

I only have mya's release of Joe D'Amato's Absurd (aka Horrible), it's watchable enough.I wouldn't mind getting their Hunchback of the Morgue DVD too, if the Anolis release is going for silly money or hard to come by.

I've had:

ARIZONA COLT RETURNS - Good transfer, probably ripped from the German edition
HORRIBLE - Non-anamorphic but decent
ISLAND OF THE FISHMEN - Good, possibly ripped from the Italian dvd
THE MANIACS - Very good
NAKED AND VIOLENT - Appalling transfer
