Default Desert Island Films - who are these guys?

I found this on Amazon.com released by an outfit called Desert Island Films.

Amazon.com: Virus: George Kennedy, Ed Johnson, KLL, Mike Smith: Movies & TV

According to their website here Desert Island Films - Rare and Hard to Find Movies on DVD they have been 'providing professional grade content to worldwide media businesses since 1989'.

Has anyone had any experience of them? They have some interesting titles, but other than their website, Google hasn't turned up anything.

My first reaction was bootleg/grey market, but if they are being stocked and sold by Amazon you would think they are legit.

Bootleggers.

Amazon sell bootlegs all the time - just look how many copies of THE HOUSE BY THE CEMETERY there is. Remember many Vipco releases were bootlegs and they were all available on Amazon.

Bootleggers, indeed, but I own many Desert Island discs, and most of them are pretty good in quality, and relatively affordable, as well.

Thus far I've purchased Truck Stop Women (excellent quality), Redneck (with Franco Nero and Telly Savalas; to my knowledge the only available release in NA!) and Caligula Reincarnated As Hitler (apparently cut, but not by much!) and I'm totally pleased!

True, but for those who need NTSC and are on a budget....Desert Island and Sinister Cinema can be quite helpful!

I've actually never purchased a Camera Obscura release, although I hear so many good things...are most of their releases PAL? I know their stuff is hard to come by here in the US.

I think they might be.
I've bought quite a few Synergy discs when there's been no alternative.

You do know CALIGULA REINCARNATED AS HITLER has been released by Exploitation Digital/Media Blasters under it's correct title of GESTAPO'S LAST ORGY? (though it is also very slightly cut)

REDNECK is out over here as a budget release which I always see knocking around for ridiculously cheap prices - I paid 50p for mine! Not a bad release for the price - it's letterboxed and uncut but it'd be great if someone released a proper remastered version.

Yeah, but I think it might be OOP now? I searched through Amazon and found that both the stand alone release and the Hell Pack Vol 2 were no longer available...so I went with what I could.

Still planning on buying the Exploitation Digital release at some point, if I can find it cheap.

Not sure about the single release but I know the boxset is and is pretty hard to find one for a decent price.

Try and get the Another World release from Scandinavia - it's uncut, in English and anamorphic widescreen. It's available on it's own or in a box with THE BEAST IN HEAT, SS EXPERIMENT CAMP and SS CAMP 5: WOMEN'S HELL.
