Default Hammer Sequels Poll

What series of sequels was the best (Hammer's output was vast and I'd need 10 polls to list 'em all individually)

Very tough decision, but I prefer Peter Cushing over Mr.Lee and his increasingly deranged performances of the mad doctor were fantastic, whereas I think Dracula's dialogue was pretty limited....

This is a toughie, as they both had sequels of varying quality.

The Dracula series edges it for me, though - of all the sequels, only AD1972 is a bit shit. All the rest are excellent.

Talking of which, who's going to put out a decent anamorphic version of the wonderful Satanic Rites in the UK?

Yeah - the Cushing / Lee combination always makes for good Hammer.

I have the long oop ABUS disc Of Satanic Rites. It's widescreen, but non anamorphic. One of the first dvds I ever bought and long overdue for an upgrade.

Treasure it mate, last time I looked on amazon they were crazy money....that's the version I paid for and was sent a 4;3 cheapo version....fifteen quid...eventually got a refund though......It's a pity LEE didn't don the fangs one last time for LOT7GV as Forbes-Robertson looks like a cross between a panto villain and the joker.....it's the only fault in the whole film.....

Agree about 'Dracula' in LOT7GV reaper - bloody awful

Really enjoyed the film itself, though. The UK disc is excellent.

Yes I also have the AB release of what I regard as one of Hammer most underrated films.I much prefer the Dracula sequels as Brides Of Dracula (albeit missing Lee) is one of my favourite horror films ever.I also like Dracula Has Risen From The Grave a great deal & Dracula Prince of Darkness benefits greatly from Andrew Kerr's presence. The best Frankenstein sequel IMHO is Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed followed closely by The Monster From Hell.
