Default Desert Island Hammer.

Ok, it's desert island (dvd) discs time. If you had to pick one Hammer film to keep you company on your exile, what would it be?

For me it would have to be Vampire Circus, a film that I have loved since seeing it for the first time as an impressionable ten year old. I've watched it god knows how many times and I never get bored of it. One of Hammer's very best IMO.

Really tough but it's probably Plague of the Zombies for me.

Tomorrow it'll be Dracula Prince of Darkness and then on saturday, Quatermass and the Pit.

The Devil Rides Out for me.

Whilst it would be tough for me to choose a runner up, The Devil Rides Out has always stood out as Hammer's best - I'd even place it in my top 20 horror films of all time.

I would go for Taste The Blood of Dracula.

One of my top two Hammer films along with Bizarre_eye's choice.

However as its a desert island i want to check as many boxes as possible.

Dracula
Christopher Lee
Buxom wenches
Nudity
Gory murders
Gothic horror
Good fun
Great cast

So it just about wins for me.

The Devil Rides Out i have great childhood memories of this film. One of the first Hammer film i ever watched and as i said before when the Devil appeared scared the crap out of me.

Dracula. I could watch Cushing's performance forever.

Just the way he delivers the line:

"There...now you look just like a teddy bear."

could keep me going for a while! (Anachronistically incorrect, but so what. It's a film!)

Plenty of excellent films I would miss, but Fisher's Dracula is the king of Hammer's output.

What's Camp on Blood Island (I think that's what it's called?) like? It's one of the few Hammers that I have yet to see.

Its a fairly grim prisoner of war film, depicting strong Japanese sadism.

I quite liked it when i bought the recent dvd, not seen it till then.

Andre Morell has the lead, it even finds a role for Barbara Shelley.

If you are a completist then its certainly worth getting as is Yesterday's Enemy which was released at the same time on dvd.
