Johnny Depp's best performance was in Ed Wood, so the period between Edward Scissorhands and Sleepy Hollow saw his strongest acting.

He has been in some awful films, particularly the Pirates of the Caribbean series and Finding Neverland.

Although these aren't his best performances, I thought he was very good in The Ninth Gate, Secret Window* and Nick of Time.

*A film only let down by the (for me) predictable ending.
