Default worst depiction of Britain in a us Tv series

We've all seen in it. Columbo,McCloud, Mission Impossible, Uncle, they've all done it. What's your memories of fog, postboxes, telephone boxes, bad accents? mINE'S THE BIOPIC OF DEF LEPPARD, SET IN A CANADIAN MIDWEST STEELTOWN-style Sheffield and Stonehnege Apocalypse and the Da Vinci Treasure for Syfy.

Cool

One that springs to mind is how odd U.S. tv make the Irish sound, ages ago I saw a MURDER SHE WROTE and it was all "ooi meesis Fleechoir des boon ah moider ein tee coattage oop dee rood, beegoreah". And of course to U.S. viewers every person in England is either a Cockney or so posh we Brits need a translator.

Probably Family Guy...

To some countries, we're either all upper-class snobs, or vicious football hooligans!

I know what you mean about how we sound in all movie or TV having American actors trying the Irish accent. It is not even slightly close to how anyone here talks or has ever talked like that. Tom Cruise in Far and Away ha ha so so bad

Almost everything that gets made in the US that features England is filled with the usual types. It shows how ignorant people are not only in the US but the world over. When I last went to Amsterdam a taxi driver thought I was from Norway.....actually its much worse......I'm from Dudley......

I find some British films and TV shows don't do us any favours. Far too many 'jack the lad' 'tawk liiike dis' portrayals.
