Default I Love A Serbian Film

Away from all the heavy discussion of meanings and intent. Post your thoughts if you really loved the film. Maybe you have a cast iron stomach and thought that the gore was an accomplishment because it pushed the boundaries of taste and decency or you just liked it for the sheer overwhelming excess of the screen.

Let us know what you think, this thread is for the fans only...

I wouldn't say I loved the film but I certainly didn't hate it. The 'controversial' scenes were pretty disgusting but I don't feel that I've been scarred for life and in a world where mainstream horror is on the whole pretty lacklustre and very 'safe', I feel A Serbian Film was right to push the boundaries. Whether or not pushing them in this particular way is good or bad I don't know, but hey - It's only a movie

I have gone on record numerous times of saying this is my favorite film of the year. I admire the filmmakers for going the extra mile, making beautiful use of the red camera, the acting on display, the message behind the film and personally after seeing this three times love this movie. Of course it's not for everyone. But really was this aiming for a mainstream audience? I think not. I have written an article on my relationship with this movie: thexperimenthq: My Relationship With A Film From Serbia and also recorded various podcasts on the on-going developments of this movie:

Podcast 3: thexperimenthq: EPISODE 3: CATEGORY III; A SERBIAN FILM AND THE VIDEO NASTIES

Podcast 5: thexperimenthq: EPISODE 5: MORAL MARC AND THE FINAL(ish) WORD ON THE SERBS (With Marc Morris)

Podcast 6: thexperimenthq: EPISODE 6: THE SIXTH DEFENCE (With Stuart Brennan- Director of The British Horror Film Festival)

The soundtrack has picked up some praise. Did people enjoy the clanging mix of Musique Concrete, Dubstep and Electronics?

Well Done for bringing the soundtrack up Sam!

I loved the music and thought it was the icing on the cake with this film.

It's as disturbing as the film and certainly makes you feel that way so it works perfectly!

The most horrific and best film for dread, tension and suspense I have seen this year.

Certainly up there with Martyrs, REC, Inside and The Descent.

To say "I love" this disgusting and atrocious film might be a little too much but while I saw it (uncut on the big screen), I didn't really enjoy it (certain scenes especially...) but I found the film to be highly effective. The production values are high, the main actor is brilliant, the music is strange but really adds to the atmosphere and in a nutshell, A SERBIAN FILM is the most intense film I've ever seen. Compared to this, even stuff like SALO may still be disgusting, but they're definitely no longer the most disturbing films ever - since they are clearly "just" a film but ASF sometims blurrs the line between stuff the character sees, remembers and actually (consciously) does.

So still, saying "I love ASF" is kind of a strange thing, but I'd definitely rate it 10/10, for keeping me amused with its strange kind of humor, for being one of the few film to really shock me and for giving me a film to torment all my friends with (insert evil laugh here).

Playzocker I agree with your sentiments 100% as I too think "I Love" is a bit too strong but it is an experience and def a 10/10 film for acheiving what it sets out to do.

Where were you lucky enough to see it on the big screen?

An interesting article over at the Independent: A Serbian Film: Is this the nastiest film ever made?
