Thumbs up [.Rec 3: Genesis] - Out in UK 11th May!

So, is anyone else desperate to see this, as much as I am? Having seen the first two, and bought them on UK Blu-ray, (and mighty fine films they are too), a mate and myself will be having a day-tip to London next week, to go see this...

... providing somewhere in London is showing it.

What is it with cinemas, that they don't release details of what they're going to be showing? I've worked in the cinema industry, and at cinemas, so I know what kinds of info they get sent, so it frustrates the heck out of me that myself and my mate both want to see REC 3, and yet no cinema in London, that I've contacted, can tell me if a) they'll be showing the film at all, and/or b) what times it may be being shown, if they were showing it, despite it being out in the UK on Limited Release from Friday 11th May 2012.

You've got two people, willing to pre-book tickets, and are travelling down from elsewhere to see a film at your cinema, and you can't even tell me if you are going to be showing the film at all, until Wednesday 9th? What the hell?!

Anyway, this Spanish horror series is excellent, and I'm looking forward to watching this third entry, which details how the infected virus started off, and next year's fourth and final film, will details what happens when the virus leaps out into the world at large!

If anyone can't see it at the cinemas, it's out on UK Blu-Ray in September, and can be pre-ordered from Amazon.co.uk, now, if you wish.

I was really looking forward to REC3, finding out the history of the virus (well, possession really, and we know vaguely what happened) would have been interesting. But it's not about that anymore. It's in daylight, so presumably the day after the night before*, miles away from the building. At a wedding. The virus has left the building though.

From the trailers I've seen it does have a different tone, but in saying that so did REC2 to an extent. Still, looking forward to seeing it.

*Edit: Paco Plaza says this a prequel. It doesn't look like one, but I guess we'll have to wait and see what he has up his sleeve.

[Rec] I enjoyed it (and found it much superior to the American scene-for-scene remake 'Quarantine'), but I found hard to watch, due to it's "Blair Witch"-style camera work. If I wanted to spend 90 mins, and end up with my head spinning, I would do some vodka!

*hey, that's a good idea. Where's the bottle

[Rec 2] was better than the first. I really enjoyed the suggestion that the events in the first film were due to demonic possession

[Rec 3] I understand is shot in a more traditional way, and is a prequel to the first film. Other than that, I don't know much about it.

I think I will wait until it comes to DVD, and then pick up a cheapo copy from the 2nd hand shops!

We had this at the Fantasy Filmfest Nights here recently and I liked it very much, although you should be prepared for a pretty different kind of film, compared to the previous parts, I am not saying more, not wanting to spoil anything. Let's put it this way: It was a fun ride with all I expected and hoped for

I too have been lucky enough to have seen this already. It's very different to the previous two Rec films, which is definetly not a bad thing in this case. It's so much fun and one of the most enjoyable [zombie films in the past 10 years - up there with Zombieland.

The possession angle was already revealed in the first film. It's what elevated it from a really, really good film, to a great film, in my eyes.

REC 1 & 2 are probably two of my favourite genre films of recent years, and as such I am very much looking forward to the next two!
