Default Inglourious Basterds

Not sure whether this really counts as explotation but Im gonna stick it here anyway.

I was lucky enough to see Inglourious Basterds last night (and get paid sometimes being a projectionist in a multiplex has its perks!!) and I loved it.

Dont be fooled by the trailer (I imagine most people here have read up on it and know this already) its not a violence filled men on a mission film. It is a serise of chapters that are essentailly long dialouge scenes, interepersed with action, that lead to a fantastic climax.

I was rooted to my seat though out, all the performances are top notch and QT is on perfect form with the script and filming. Definitely worth seeing on the big screen (for the climax alone!!!)

Cool, good to hear positive things about this. I'm really looking forward to seeing this. I currently work at a cinema so I'm hoping i'll get to see this soon (maybe 2night), just glad something good is gonna be playing where i work rather than the usual shit i've had to sit through recently.

The idea of it sounds interesting. I'll probably see it in the next week or so.

Why the name change from Inglorious Bastards though? Censorship problems?

Yes it appears to be censorship.

The 1978 film has been reissued on DVD with some covers uncensored but other saying this Inglorious B******s.

Also in the case of the trailers for the QT film, they won't mention the full title before 9pm on TV.

I heard the QT is unwilling to say why he has the spelling mistakes. My favourite explination (and as far as I know totally untrue) is that they had the origonal Inglorious Bastards in the Video Shop Tarantino worked at but he could never find it cause it was in a blank case and programmed in the computer as Inglourious Basterds so its a reference to that.

My real guess would be that its because of censorship (ie meet the fockers is ok but not meet the ****ers) which in my opionion is stupid.

Interesting article spooks, i would never have guess that people would be up in arms about a swastika! Its not as if the film is designed to inspire the next generation of right wing nazis
