Just picked this up on a Dutch dvd...

Cannonball!
"Five years before Burt Reynolds had a huge hit with Cannonball Run, Roger Corman's New World Pictures released Cannonball — a low budget drive-in flick whose basic plot (not to mention title) was ripped off by the Reynolds film."

Well it's got David Carradine and it's directed by Paul Bartel so I expect it to be ok or better.
Although it was made right after Death Race 2000 there's no real connection (except cars).

Is the UK dvd cut or something because there are some cheap on Amazon?

It was cut for cinema though the DVD is intact.

Watched Cannonball! last night.
It's no absolute classic like Death Race 2000 but still an entertaining and fun film .
The "bridge scene" is a must see!

Lots of well loved actors and actresses in this one too!

David Carradine (who also gets to bust some kung fu moves)
Robert Carradine
Belinda Balaski
Mary Woronov
Dick Miller (of course!)
Paul Bartel
Roger Corman (in a small cameo)
Sylvester Stallone (pops up for a few secs)
Martin Scorsese and Joe Dante in small roles
And many more...

I'm not certain but isn't this the first of the illegal cross country race films?
It was followed by other movies with a similar theme:The Gumball Rally (made almost simultaneously with Cannonball!) and The Cannonball Run (made much later).

The Dutch dvd is fullscreen (I think it's open matte) and has optional Dutch subs.

I did EXACTLY the same thing as you've just done a couple of weeks ago mate. EXACTLY the same! Watched Stunt Rock. saw the awesomeness of GI6S and bought it for 2.99 of Amazon! What's the chances?! GI6S is great fun - just skip to the car chase half way though lol!
