I'm a big fan of New York set exploitation films, with Michael and Roberta Findlay being my present idols. Any recommendations of similar stuff, past and present or New York based exploitation in general.

Wasn't The Exterminator set in The Big Apple? One of my fave revenge films alongside the Death Wish saga and Vigilante. And of course there's the overrated but still watchable Escape From New York. Didn't the Findlays shoot some sort of gang warfare effort called Game of Survival which was rejected by the B.B.F.C. years back during the dark days of James Ferman's reign? I think GOS was also known as Tenement and if i'm not wrong then this film was issued on U.K. DVD not too far back under this alternative moniker. If the movie wasn't about rival gangs then i believe the plot concerned residents of a rundown apartment block fighting back against the street scum making their lives a misery. |

Hello Splatterdragon73, GOS aka Tenement is a Roberta Findlay film, made after she was shunned by the XXX industry for bad taste! It's no great shakes but does contain a brutal rape scene, Roberta is a fan of such scenes, and a cool scene of little kids pouring boiling water on the bad guys. It has so much promise on paper-crack head street gang duking it out with residents of a housing block in full on blood and gore mode but sadly it is very clunky and tiresome to watch. "Headless Eyes" is a neat little NYC horror that plays like "Driller Killer" except with spoons rather than power tools as the weapon of choice for the crazed artist at it's centre.

Kent Bateman is indeed Jason and Justine Bateman's father. I just did a quick google on Kent and he acted in a film called "Death On Credit". Anyone know if this is based on Louis-Ferdinand Celine's novel, the sequeal to one of my favourite books "Journey to the End of the Night" which if ever filmed would make a lovely "Scum of Paris" thread.
