Default I've Seen Some Things: Vietnam Vengeance

You know how it is... You fight for your country in some godforsaken jungle hell and when you get home expecting a heroes welcome... well, all you find is closed doors, rejection and a world that makes no sense anymore. It's enough to drive anybody to pick up a massive gun and go clean the streets.

Like Post-Vietnam movies? Those violent movies where ex-soldiers take the law into their own hands (or in the case of Death Dream, the locals entrails)?

Discuss it here. From First Blood to The Exterminator. Vietnam turned their heads and now it's payback time!

I am a huge fan of the film Combat Shock that definitely fits into this genre. It is also one of the most downbeat films I have ever seen. It's a mixture of Rambo, Eraserhead and Taxi Driver, made on no budget.

It's about an Vietnam Vet who comes home to a life where there is no hope of a job and he has to support a wife and Agent Orange deformed baby.

Definitely worth a watch if you haven't seen it and like that sort of thing. As far as I know there's no UK DVD, but Troma put out an extra's stuffed special edition in the US.

I loved Combat Shock, once I got over the fact that it wasn't really a Troma movie. It was something far uglier...

Love Vietnam Vet films. As mentioned by Sam First Blood and The Exterminator are classics.

Forced Entry?

Another Vietnam Vet on the rampage that is often overlooked is VIGILANTE FORCE.
If you ain't seen it,I urge you to check it out.

Of course there is the one and only Travis Bickle as well.

Combat Shock I found was the ultimate excercise in depression!

FB and TE are firm faves of mine and tbh i didn't enjoy CS on my initial bootleg VHS viewing. However, yours truly warmed to the film much more after watching it on DVD and CA floats my boat too.

Default MORE post-Vietnam vengeance type of films

If you're looking for more of post-Vietnam vengeance type of films, maybe you could check out: THE ANNIHILATORS (Christopher Stone, uncut dvd is unavailable), EYE OF THE TIGER (Gary Busey), GORDON'S WAR (Paul Winfield), EXTERMINATOR 2 (Robert Ginty, dvd is unavailable).

COMBAT SHOCK from Troma Team is one of the worst low budget movie I've ever seen. It plays like a documentary drama. One thing I remember is the "deformed baby" if I'm not mistaken.
