Should Shameless use the below classic artwork on one of their panels for the upcoming Four Flies On Grey Velvet release?

Demdike@Cult Labs 12th October 2011 05:21 PM

It would be a travesty if they didn't.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 12th October 2011 05:23 PM

I agree Dem.
Even although it's been used on the MYA DVD and the German Hardbox,it's never actually been shown with it's ITALIAN title......;)

Pete 12th October 2011 05:29 PM

Yes! But tbh I don't mind what artwork is used as long as it's not another photoshop abomination.

SignorWardh 12th October 2011 07:05 PM

No reason not to go with the original artwork.

No!

sjconstable 12th October 2011 09:11 PM

What are the other options? Are we getting four panels? I need to see the options before I can vote ;)

Nope, only two panels with Shameless releases. Because of that, I'd lke to see two original posters used, instead of using new art on one of the panels.

Paul@TheOverlook 12th October 2011 10:26 PM

Thing is, newer, photoshopped artwork is sometimes necessary to get customers with more mainstream tastes buying.

I'd prefer to see two original pieces too ;)

If it aint broke, don't fix it I say. Don't know how many times I've avoided a release because of a new, improved, joe public appealing cover. I despise them. Even tinkering with original artwork is a no-no. (Universal darkening the cover and changing the shark on JAWS. MGM with their photoshopped head on the To Live And Die In L.A. dvd and BD).

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 12th October 2011 10:37 PM

Okay, can one of the talented people mock me up a Shameless cover using the mask artwork and Italian title?:)

Funny you should use MGM as an example because it's probably responsible for kick-starting the use of bland-looking covers in the mid-1990s with the James Bond films.

Another choice?

I personally fell in love with the American poster with the knife pointing to the eye when i first saw it. maybe do something with that to make it look a tad modern for the "Mainstream" audience. (God i feel like a hipster calling the public "mainstream") :tsk:

Stephen@Cult Labs 15th October 2011 05:43 AM

Perhaps the mask artwork on one side, and the American artwork on the other.

Yes please!! These 2 are the only remotely decent covers I have ever seen for this movie!

Believe it or not, but i would choose this cover over the 'Mask' artwork anytime. The latter vintage image does nothing for me i'm afraid.:)

Rassilon 29th October 2011 04:41 PM

Is the first image a woman escaping from a tomato?

I've never seen this film but will defo but it with either cover.

Cpt.Morgan 18th November 2011 09:25 PM

The original artwork is a classic masterpiece, so why not use it?

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 12th December 2011 06:14 PM

Any decisions on the artwork yet? :)

Not yet but, as soon as there is a decision, this will be the place to find out!

The best 4 Flies artwork (by far, IMO) is the American poster with the eyeball and the blade on a blue background.

Some of the other posters look awesome, but this is my fav!
