Question. Will this release be Region Free? That is the only thing that is keeping me from placing a pre-order on it right damn now...

Shameless' releases are usually region free, but I'll seek clarification about this release and get back to you.

Yes, please let us know - I'd like to pre-order a copy too if it's region-free.

Its only my opinion but i am the complete opposite.

Shameless release far more interesting films than Arrow, extras are a bonus but when i've watched them once then thats it for me, if i bother at all.

Its all about the film on offer, and Shameless float my boat every time nearly. The last Arrow release of any real note i thought was Island of Death.

A question about the inclusion of SD scenes.

When I play blu-rays and select, for example, a special feature that isn't in HD the TV will flicker briefly and then display (eg) 480p (i think?) in the corner of the screen (I use a PS3). So the swap from an HD menu to an SD extra will trigger either the player or TV to nofity the viewer that this change has happened (and is thus no longer displaying in HD) with a flicker and notifcation displaying the resolution info before the SD content is played.

Will this happen when watching the film with the included SD scenes? Ie, when an SD scene comes along, will the player/TV notice this and do something? ie, display a 480p notification, or flicker, or something..?

Does that make sense?! :P

That makes sense to me as my setup (which includes a PS3) does exactly the same.

In terms of seamless branching which switches from HD to SD and back again, I really don't know what will happen!

I wouldn´t worry about that since the SD parts are probably upscaled into 1080p to fit into the movie, that´s common when SD sourced stuff is inserted into 1080p material on a BD.

If not, it would be really bad, as ALL screens do that when they change resolution.

As steel76 said, virtually all SD content is upscaled when played on a Blu-ray player, so I imagine players will treat the SD inserts as they would a DVD and automatically upscale it so there shouldn't be anything untoward from a PS3.

That said, I've asked Shameless whether that will be the case.

Regarding the "Shameless Trailer Park" that will be included on the BD, is any of the trailers in HD, and what trailers will be included?
