Default Info about playing games on PC/laptop

Question for all you PC gamer's out there:

I want to play the old PC versions of BLOOD, DUKE NUKEM 3D: ATOMIC EDITION (+ it's add on's), EXHUMED (aka POWERSLAVE) and QUAKE.

Can I play them on my laptop and, if so, what programs do I need?

Sorry if that's a stupid question but I'm know feck all about playing games on PC/Laptop.

(I have the console versions of DUKE and EXHUMED but I really want to play the PC versions again because DUKE has expansion packs with extra levels and EXHUMED is completely different to the PS1 version)

You shouldn't need any special stuff as they're all Win95+ launched games, you'll just need to right-click on the shortcut after installing and select "run in compatibility mode" and select the relevent Windows for it to emulate.

I can't seem to be able to do that - everytime I stick it in it goes straight to the VLC player for the soundtrack!

Cool

If it's a wndows xp machine, on startup goto my computer, then click 'local disc c', then in the pane on the left should be a 'make new folder' option.
