Anyone have any information on the forthcoming remake, stars, director, release date?

I wasn't even aware a remake was on the cards and i really can't see a new version outdoing the original. It's a much better film than people give credit for imo and not quite the scuzzy, criminal waste of celluloid that some suggest.

I must admit i'm surprised at an updating of ISOYG! I wonder what's next? A remake of House On The Edge Of The Park?! Hey, you never know these days with Hollywood suffering from remake-mania.

This is pretty much all I could find:

CineTel Films has acquired rights to remake I Spit on Your Grave and it had had a planned 2009 worldwide theatrical release. The movie will be produced by CineTel prexy-CEO Paul Hertzberg and Lisa Hansen, with Jeff Klein, Alan Ostroff, Gary Needle and Zarchi as exec producers.

Guessing it's fallen behind schedule!

Thanks Phil.

Looks like it will be a 2010 release in the end. I'm not a huge fan of the original but I am curious to see how this will pan out.

I'm just presuming that production has started and imagine that it will be a fairly quick shoot.

Last House on the Left remake was slightly toned down compared to the original, I would expect this to be considerably toned down. Still you never know it might be worthwhile.

From an interview with one of the producers and the guys at horror-movies.ca:

"After seeing what was done with an R rating on films like Saw and Hostel, we think we can modernize this story, be competitive with what this marketplace expects and not have to aim for an NC-17 or X rating."

Hmmm... can we say 'watered down'?

The Hostel and Saw films did get away with some pretty strong stuff for an R although again there was no sexual violence which people tend to be a lot more sensitive about.

Actually the recent remake of Last House on the Left does show that the MPAA are willing to accept fairly brutal rape scenes for an R but the excessive nudity from the original is still unlikely to be acceptable to either the BBFC or the MPAA. I would imagine the length of her ordeal would be reduced here as well.

Needlless to say though the revenge sequence wouldn't have any problems.

By the way Gutterballs was heavily cut for an R. Not really surprising.

That shot in the original ISOYG of the castration victim in a heap and all drained of blood is very well done imo. Also, the part where Jennifer Hills crawls back to her home after the outdoor violation is impressive too. As she dags herself into the lounge we see a telephone in the foreground and just as our female lead reaches out to pick up the receiver to call for help a foot flies onscreen and kicks the telephone away. Only then do we realise the rapists are in the room with her!
It's moments like that that make the first ISOYG enjoyable for me.

This is one I've heard of being re-done a few times now. I remember reading about it away back in an old issue of The Dark Side (63 I think it was, but don't quote me) when it was mentioned Meir Zarchi wanted to re-make it with the original cast! Considering the movie was'nt even given a release in it's cut form at that time, I found the idea to be rather interesting to say the least as to how feasible that idea would be.

HD Trailer on "Bloody Disgusting":

I'd say this is looking promising- at least for those, who're not allergic to 70's remakes per se.
