Default Mad Max: Fury Road

My interest in a Mad Max 4 has long gone. TBH I lost interest after the mess that is Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. Don't get me wrong, I still watch it and want a BR release, but let's face it, the movie's strong points are the begining and the end. The movie loses it for me, after Aunty Entity says "Congratulations, you're the first to survive the audition". The movie stalls until Pig Killer drives the train out of Underworld, thus destroying Bartertown and the climatic chase ensues. Having two directors; one to direct the action and another to direct characters was a mistake in my book. Clearly ,one wanted to make a movie where people fight and blow shit up, and the other wanted to make Lawrence of Arabia meets Lord of the Flies meets Jesus of Nazareth or something. The two concepts don't gel so we get the great beginning and end sets of scenes and partial naval gazing in the great stony desert of the middle section.

So far the current news on Fury Road and Fast and Furious Road hasn't enthralled me. Look at the evidence;

1979 - George Miller directs a landmark film for Australian cinema, despite it's lack of worldwide recognition at the time.

1981 - Arguably the best movie ever made is released; Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior.

1985 - The mess that is Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome is released. It's a 15 rated movie - a warning then if ever there was one. Oh, and the fact that it had a bunch of "feral" kids in it that were about as feral as my pussycat (he's as soft as shit btw).

So, four years it took, four years to f-up a totally good franchise. What do you think that this Uncle George is going to do to f it up now? Well how about making it in 3-D?

http://www.aintitcool.com/node/45706

I've already had an Uncle George f-up my childhood with two piss-awful prequels and one that didn't deserve to be entertaining but strangely is, although I still don't get it; Obi-Wan leaves his best mate to die burning on a volcanic hillside. Yeah, i get it, Obi, he's killed a bunch of cute kids. That's bad in anybody's book, but take his head off like a true Samu...I mean Jedi would. But he's killed some kids and got funny red eye. "I Loved you like a brother!" But you left him to die like a chump, after all that good he did. (You have to watch The Clone Wars TV show for this otherwise he comes across as whinging whining twat).

Sorry, I digress, and I hope I didn't offend with the cuss words, but I have prequel issues. Time to rewatch RedLetterMedia to help calm myself down.

Oh, and BTW, Mad Max is going to be played by Tom Hardy. Who, what, that old guy from All Creatures Great and Small? Nah, that guy who played Picard in Star Trek Nemesis. You know the one, where everyone inthe cinema falls asleep during the Picard/Picard talk? Thankfully the direct sequel "The Search for Data" wasn't made.

Perhaps i should have blogged this. Do you think i should have blogged this?

i gotta disagree with you dude, im quite stoked for MM4, Tom Hardy is an awesome actor, just check out Bronson, but he's wrong for the part, they should have given that to Jeremy Renner (hurt Locker). I think Miller's going back to his roots for the fourth one, making it all about the action and leaving the kiddie vinkles out of it. When Hardy was on Jonathon Ross he was saying that they were using CGI for some but most of it will be practical. Lets just hope he doesn't throw a CGI singing penguin into the mix.

We all have Prequal issues with Star Wars, my main problem is why do they have better technology in the prequals than in the original 3 and WTF is a jarjar.

They should keep Mad Mel, so what if he's older.

Agree 1000% Tanz.

No Mad Mel equals no Mad Max.

He may be older, but he's madder than ever-naturally!
What other sort of attribute could you want for the part of Rockatansky?

MEL GIBSON IS MAD MAX.

With them having a new actor as Max, I really don't think it should be a sequel. I'm usually against remakes but tbh, the only way I'll accept another actor as Max Rockatansky is if it's a remake and not a continuation of the series.

According to Tom Hardy, they're starting it all over again.

And George Milller said it takes place after Thunderdome. I honestly don't think anyone involved with the film knows for sure themselves. I guess only time will tell.

Not sure if Mad Mel will be doing anything for a while. Just heard the alleged phone call!
