In both films, there are key scenes set at or around Christmas which makes them qualify. The same goes for the likes of Brazil, in which the opening sequence takes place as the Buttle family are watching Christmas TV with a tree in the corner and decorations around the apartment.

It's a Wonderful Life is always (rightly) cited as a classic Christmas movie and it only has one Christmas-themed scene!

True. But it probably captures the 'spirit' of christmas far better than, say, The Proposition. Plus, it's always specifically shown at Christmas, unlike, er, 12 Monkeys.

Unconventional films yes, but just don't look at them as "Christmas films". But it's no biggie
