If you got a nice TV and watch something like Psycho or Living Dead at Manchester Morgue on blu then you will be shocked at how good it looks.

Plus just because you buy blu dont mean you cant buy dvds...thats crazy talk.
Of course! You can buy both, if you got the spare cash to throw around... I even get double editions of the same DVDs

For me it's about replicating the theatrical exhibition of a film and blu-ray is the closest format to that. Doesn't mean that I have abandoned dvd's, I still buy them quite frequently along with the occasional VHS.

Ahem.
Lemora was actually mastered in 1080p for the US DVD release a few years ago. Although that's now an 8 or 9 year old master there'd definitely be an advantage to releasing as such. Probably not a financial advantage to Synapse, though.

And this was my point really, even though some really cult titles have come out on blu, not all of them will, just like some things still aren't available on dvd...though if the BFI are now releasing Andy Milligan films, there's hope for us all

DVD is a perfectly fine format and if something is only on DVD I'm happy with it. If it's a choice between DVD and blu, blu wins out almost every time. Only where the blu is a cut versions or The Deadly Spawn will the dvd win out.

The BFI do the UK proud with their releases.

HI all
I love both formats. Yes generally speaking movies do look and sound better
on bluray but not everything blows me away. I wouldn't swap my dvd
collection for anything. At the moment my dvds exceed my blurays by about ten to one
but for me its the moviesthat count first and foremost. Picture and
Sound quality comes second but that's just me.

I still keep my old LDs and relevant dual-format player despite the technology's primitive status nowadays.

Yours truly still owns this release but i'm unsure if i'd ever buy a BR upgrade.

Sad but very true.

Agreed and it's because of this i stick with the R1 Executive Decision DVD instead of the HD version.

Another opinion i'm more than happy to comply with.

Exact same reason I've kept my R1 disc and haven't upgraded. Bloody political correctness gone mad! Surprised the US disc is the censored now. They usually don't care who they offend.

You're bang on the money there and the above case goes to show SD releases can still maintain merit over HD editions every now and then.
