Default The Amazing Spider Man

I know this is going to cause uproar but im going to come out with it anyway. Why have they made a new Spider Man film so close to the Raimi films. (I know they were 50 / 50) but I still dont think they should be releasing 1 this close.

2002 was the 1st of the Raimi ones so basically 10 yrs has passed. Thats not including Spider Man 3 which was 2007. Sorry for the sudden rant but hopefully you will see where I am coming from

I have no problem with them making a new one with a different team/cast, but to redo the same origin story is a bit weird. If they'd done the Lizard as a practical creature design with CGI additions, then they'd have my interest. But another full CGI beastie? Yawn . . .

the 3 Raimi films were huge money makers for Sony and marvel and when the decided not return for a fourth, Sony decided to recast and start from scratch again this time putting a different spin on the origin. Thats why.

This has a different origin story as it's largely based on Ultimate Spiderman, I believe. Anyway, irrelevant because...

What's so great about the Lizard (don't know the comics)? Isn't he just a werewolf type deal, only with a CGI lizard? I prefer my comic move villains to have a human face - Molina as Doc Ock was a good one . . .

The Lizard is my second favourite* of all the Marvel villains.

I love monsters and I love reptilian monsters! The first action figures I ever owned as a kid (apart from Action Man, obviously) were Evel Knieval and The Lizard.

I LOVE THE LIZARD!!!

haha fair enough, well I hope you aren't let down by the film then!

(...but who would win in a fight: Evel Knieval or The Lizard?)

When you look at comic books which have such a rich history of stories a reboot like this makes perfect creative (and financial) sense, even if I have a few misgivings about the 'darker' nature of this film. After all, comic book series' get rebooted too

Also: EMMA STONE AND THE LIZARD

Oh I will be: it's a Hollywood superhero film. They always disappoint!
