Four movies that aren't really considered traditional horror, but I am thinking about putting on my list. What do you guys think? If there is an overwhelming consensus that any of these films don't belong, I won't add them to my list.

1984 - The case for including this one is, well, it's bloody terrifying. It's horror at a whole other level, the government with complete control is scary to me.

Blow Out - A candidate for DePalma's best. It's more of a thriller, but John Travolta is trying not to get murdered. Sort of horror.

Manhunter - A movie about a serial killer.

Pink Floyd The Wall - Some terrifying imagery. You don't really know what's going on inside of the main character's head other than what you hear from the brilliant Pink Floyd album. Some violent stuff. It's scary on a more visceral level than the average horror film.

Definately Manhunter. A favourite of the 80's, and for many, the best Hanninal Lecter, or Lecktor, film. A classic imo.

I still think Silence of the Lambs is better, but Manhunter is indeed a classic. They are interesting companion pieces.

I'll list some movies that won't be getting my vote, because I don't think they are that good. Some of these might shock you.

Aliens - Big let down from Alien, and far surpassed by Aliens 3.

Evil Dead/Evil Dead II - Most overrated horror films ever.

Unhinged - Not much of a surprise.

They Live - I couldn't get past the terrible acting here.

Creepshow/Return of the Living Dead - Didn't think either were funny, scary, or thrilling.

Halloween II - Following Halloween is setting yourself up for failure. Can't live up to the classic.

Child's Play - He's doll. Seriously. A doll.

I am quite shocked you included:
The Evil Dead
They Live
Creepshow
Return of the Living Dead

I love all of them! The rest of the films you mention, I kind of agree with.

Aliens isn't a horror film, it's a combat movie and is vastly superior to Alien, which is still an incredible Film anyways. They Live isn't a horror film either it's a sci-fi film.

Yeah most people are pretty shocked when I tell them Army of Darkness is the only one of The Evil Dead trilogy I like.

Out of those, Creepshow is the one I "almost" like if it makes sense. I like the idea of it a lot, and the segment with Leslie Nielsen is pretty awesome. He devours the scenery in it.

Anybody else have any confessions to make? What popular films are you not going to vote for?

I won't argue either way, I just put them up there because I've seen them listed as horror.

And NO WAY is Aliens better than Alien.
Beyond72 and Slippery Jack like this.
