Default Horrors of the Real World

Hi there!

So EVERYONE on here luvs all things horror! We're mad for the genre! But there's plenty of horror stories that are apparantly true in the real world. From the infamous haunting of Amityville to Joan Of Arc's husband, Gilles de Raid who lured children (boys) into his castle and slashed their throats (legend has it over 1,000!) then placed their heads on spikes, cared for the severed heads and then forced his servants to choose the most attractive looking one in a morbid beauty contest.

Not to mention Elisabeth Bathory who killed hundreds of young women and bathed in their blood to keep her youthful looks (apparantly it worked!)

As well as the unexplained and very creepy tale of the Devil's footprints.

So, this thread is for all those urban legends, myths, true gruesome stories - the origins and influences of horror films.

Awesome idea for a thread, shame I can't think of anything constructive to add to it.

What about Changeling with the psychopath who kidnapped young boys and mutilated them randomly 1 at a time while they watched. That's disgusting. I felt so sorry for the mother who was determined her son was alive and would never stop searching.

Horrific and tragic

Both of those are truly disturbing examples - absolutly hideous. How do these people do these acts?!

And don't forget ol' Fritzl only a few years back who raped and beat his daughter for 24-years in his basement - and I believe had children with her! WTF! That'll be made into a film one day, no doubt.

Does everyone know the story of the devils footprints by the way? Its very creepy and so fascinating!

They also 'reoccurred' just last March in Devon around the same area as the original legend.

The story of Syilvia in Girl Next Door is one of the most horrible true storys I have heard, the girl next door version is more explicit and graphic as its a horror story but the original story is very similar and some of the things said in the Girl Next Door did happen.

One of the best books I have read and the movie was not too bad either.

Well, Baaasically, it goes a little something like this, Loops;

About 100 years ago (I could be wrong on the date, I'll need to look that up) a rather strange occurance happened in snowy Devon. One morning the entire town woke up to find a series of footprints. They were hoove shaped, quite small and belonged to a creature walking on two legs, rather than four. What's more is that these footprints had to have been strangely hot in order to leave footprints behind for so long in the snow. The track went right through the street (houses either side) and went up to every single house door, seemingly stopped (or went in! ) and returned to the middle of the street. The villagers decided to follow the tracks to see what the hell made them and then it got even more weird! The footprints did not just walk on the ground, but was also spotted ontop of snowy roofs. They went underneath a hole in a 6ft wall - right through it! The villagers followed the tracks for miles and miles and miles. Too far for any animal to walk in just one night.

Was it the Devil himself?

And as Vince rightly said, it happened AGAIN, in the same place, a few years ago.

VERY spooky!
