that is good price but just like the tesco player, firmware based region free is not guaranteed to be upgradable as Toshiba may patch it so you loose region free when you update for a new blu.

I Will pick the dvd option pretty much everytime if blu ray has nothing exsclusive on it, in fact the only blus i can really see myself investing in are arrow titles . Moaning out the way does any one have any blu ray recomendations for me bearing in mind i like my extras?
I know what you mean, I'm really not that bothered about Blu-rays either.I've got both a DVD and a BD player and I still buy far more DVDs, mainly cos they're cheaper and more practical to watch.I just buy my faves on Blu, everything else DVD suffices nicely. There's some stuff you just have to have on BD though, the recent Blue Underground Zombie Blu-ray being the perfect example.

Default blu -ray blues

I have bought many bds because of the extras not found on sds
INGLORIOUS BASTERDS, THE 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN, ZACK AND MIRI MAKE A PORNO et al
but most films I do buy are dvds R1/2 etc, only now and then do I buy some blu rays
no way am I buying SCREAM for example because its still cut and I'm still happy with my original dvds, which only on occasion will I buy bds if uncut compared to dvd which is the case sometimes....bribery?
pq on my dvds of HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN and MACHETE are great, no need at all for me to buy blu rays, cheaper anyway and I read Danny Trejo's face wasn't meant for blu ray!

I would recommend the Lethal Weapon Collection. A great set both in the A/V quality and extras departments.

Also worth the upgrade is the Dollars trilogy set. They look and sound terrific and, I think, come with lots of extras.

Hobo has a blu ray only shotgun mode which shows various behind the scenes footage during the move or stand alone and its great! the extras on hobo is awesome as it really shows what indie film making is all about and that is doing what you love and having fun while doing it. your missing out on some great clips from the blu.

My dvd upscales to 1080p with hdmi cable. I have a ps3 for BD. Some discs you can really see the difference. Avatar, for something new. The Exorcist has never looked better. I have replaced any dvd with BD besides The Evil Dead.

My problem with the Evil Dead is - Sony have done a great job, but then went george lucas on the film. Most notable is when the car goes over the bridge and you see a glimpse of the camera man in the bushes to the right. Well they have digitally removed this which isn't right. I hate it when films get touched up in this way. But if you can get over that its a great version.
