Haunted Palace is now available in Germany. Not Price obviously but Premature Burial is out soon there too. MGM confuses the hell out of me. They'll seem completely disinterested in releasing BD's of much other than prime catalogue then they go ahead and randomly chuck out a load of Chuck Norris and Death Wish sequels. No real rhyme or reason to it. Then they spend all this time and effort restoring The Quatermass Xperiment only to throw that on an MOD disc.

Luckily, if they don't bother, we have Germany and maybe Australia to hope for as Shock have released three of the Midnite Movies titles already but no Price.

Or, if we're really lucky, Studio Canal will also release them but I'll lay off them while they're getting to work on the Hammer's.

Supposedly the Corman Poe's have all been on MGM HD so there are masters around.

There are two releases I know of now. MGM released an MOD of it last year and Sinister Film released a pressed disc in Italy. Been trying to find reviews/ info on that second one before I buy either.

From the DVD Drive-In review of the Diary Of A Madman disc,

MGM has released DIARY OF A MADMAN on DVD as part of its MOD (manufactured on demand) “Limited Edition Collection.” The worst fear was that they’d just use an old full frame or flat letterboxed transfer, but thankfully they’ve used a new remaster that’s a winner. The film is presented letterboxed at 1.66:1 with anamorphic enhancement, and despite the opening warning of “This film has been manufactured using the best source material available” (which appears to be a standard disclaimer for these specific releases) the transfer is quite gorgeous, with the original Technicolor textures really coming through nicely, and very little on display in terms of dirt and debris. The image is very sharp, and fleshtones look natural, far better than the previous video transfers. The mono audio is clear and distinct, even if there’s evidence of some pops and hiss. The original trailer is included (it’s widescreen, but not anamorphic) and includes special narration footage of Price on the film’s soundstage graveyard set.

My favorite movie with Vincent Price is House of Wax.
I can watch this film several times in one day. I hated when his wax museum was burnt down.

Such a great man and actor!

It was interesting to see a young (30 year old) Vincent Price in the 1944 film-noir classic LAURA the other week (released on BD in the US by 20th Century Fox). He stood out in that film due to his accent, the classic "trans-atlantic" accent he was famed for, as well as being taller than most of the rest of the cast, he had a very good presence. I wonder if at that point in his career he ever thought he would become a cult hero to fans of gothic horror!? I think he'd only been in a couple of horrors by that point, one of which was TOWER OF LONDON starring Boris Karloff. The remake of which he also starred in in '62.

Bear in mind that Price also had a very successful stage career as well, although he had to hop across the "pond" in order to get that going. If I'm remembering correctly, he had his first big break playing Price Albert. A role I believe he played to equally good notices on the American stage as well.
