well take a chill pill

ha ha

Just go in not expecting much or better yet go in thinking that its gonna be the worst movie you will ever see and then if its not that bad then you may suprise yourself and enjoy it

Not that simple, sadly. Actually, I think approaching things analytically is how I enjoy things! I do it with music too.

Totally agree. I only ever really go into analytical mode when I have to review a movie. Don't get me wrong, I like challenging films too - but you're right, sometimes just being entertained is the top priority.

Yup
You need to switch your brain off sometimes and just enjoy something that aint very good. After all thats why people call them guilty pleasures as they are bad and your not meant to like them. IMO Cloverfield is not a guilty pleasure as its not a "bad" movie like Transformers or 2012. Now they ARE guilty pleasures

I have faith in JJ, maybe not so much in Speilberg anymore though.. I have to say anything Star Trek related just doesn't do it for me but his film (considering it's a big budget hollywood sci-fi) kicked ass out of any other big budget sci-fi action films that have come out in years. It makes the 3 new Star Wars films (which I despise..) look even more rubbish than they actually are. It made me think if JJ had made them they may have been ok. Not a big Cloverfield fan either but he has some original ideas on how to catch an audience and keep them interested (just look at LOST). Speilberg had it all and then threw it all away, him and George Lucas should start a 'Ruin somebody's childhood' club where directors go back and change classic films they made in the past or make sh*t new ones. (If I ever see Lucas I'm going to hit him for even touching TXX1138....).
'Step away from the film you moron..'

My point being that maybe Speilberg just needs to work with somebody who knows when to say 'that's crap', and maybe JJ is a good person to do that. I hope so as this could be quite good if so.

But just as likely I will be eating my words in the near future...

if you are refering to the 4th Indy movie, Spielberg said that he really didn't like the story but lucas was adamant that this is how it should be, what hollywood needs to do is stop David Koepp from writing films because he keeps trying to best Jurassic Park which will never happen, i think with JJ, and his great writing and directing, they will make a great team, and spielberg should make that ****ing Intersteller film he's been meaning to make.

Is David Koepp so bad? I suppose his best scripts are a long time ago now, but you could say the same of Spielberg who hasn't really delivered a good fillm since 1978!

I reckon Koepp has written more good films than Spielberg has directed though!

Saving Private Ryan
Schindler's List
Munich
Indy 1-3
The Terminal
Catch Me if You Can
Jurassic Park
Empire of The sun
Colour Purple
E.T

EDIT: i stand corrected, Koepp has written some epic films after looking at his imdb page.
All of these since 1978 all considered classics and all critically acclaimed. Sure he's made some duds like 1941 and A.I (which i like) but his output is still better than most...

From that list I would consider only Empire of The Sun to be worth the time spent watching it (I have never seen The Terminal or AI though). I had forgotten about Empire Of The Sun actually!

I do not believe Spielberg deserves his reputation or renown at all.

Edit: Thinking back, Catch Me If You Can might have worked if it had not had the awful Tom Hanks in it. Parts of it were very good, I must say.
