I don't see a thread anywhere on this, I apologise if there is one that I've missed.

As I've mentioned in the Asian movies section, I'm big into Asian movies but I'm also fan of genre movies in general. The Frighfest film festival is on in London in late August. On the Saturday they're screening 2 Asian films - The Chaser and Tokyo Gore Police - and a film by an Asian director - Midnight Meat Train. I should be there soaking up the blood and writing some articles.

Is anyone else here going to be attending?

You really should...how can you resist a film with this poster....?

The Chaser is such a brilliant movie! One I hope has sealed UK distro already! Fans of Korean new-wave will be in a seventh heaven watching it.

I'm also wanting to visit London for Martyrs (might be the only time it gets shown uncut! lol) plus... wait for it... I know how many runs you scored last summer! The Australian slasher flick about a crazed cricketer! Get in!

Tokyo Gore Police and Martyrs both sound interesting, but I'm not going to be going this year. I've been to a few of them before and they're a great time, though. Can't afford it this year and so went to the equally fun but shorter and therefore cheaper Dead By Dawn festival in Edinburgh. Plus, DbD do a few retro screenings, which I really dig and seem to have stopped happening at the Frightfest. But I guess they're not so popular or they'd still be doing them.

Those look like a couple of films worth seeing - have you seen Machine Girl Greenfan? There's one I'm looking forward to the DVD release of.

I have to go check out the Frightfest line-up and see what's playing - so much horror, so little time!

Yeah, it's nice to see Asian movies getting supported by an event like Frightfest. Especially considering that Asian DVD companies seem to be dropping like flies, Tartan being the most recent of course.

Tartan had an amazing run though - they got me into Asian horror with Audition! Too bad it took them so long to start getting the Korean product out though!!

Stuff like The Isle should have been released years ago... and never should have suffered BBFC cuts! pfft.
