Wouldn't want to watch it streaming in a small (and slow) laptop.
The best way to find out is to download something small and try it out. Go to the Apple website and download a trailer - I clicked on this one at random - and download it, put it on a USB flash drive and try and watch it on your TV.

if its a AVI or MP4/MKV then your TV can play it
only problem you might have is if it contains DRM on the file.

I actually emailed them and asked - they were quick to respond.

The file system is H265 MP4. So does that mean it'll play on a TV USB being MP4? I was trying to google info, but it seems H265 is an upgrade from H264. It's 720p anyhoo, so I presume a relatively big download - something else I forgot to ask.

you need to check to see if your TV supports H265.
Not many videos are encoded in that as its a more lossy codec then H264.
So not much point in it as H264 was better then Xvid as it was better quality as it was not as lossy.

It's a one gig mp4. 720hd. Easily burnable to dvdr / rw so you can watch it on any DVD player, etc. Pic quality is very good.

Slightly off-topic, but it is Christmas

No idea how long this'll be up for, so apologies if the link doesn't work properly
